I just tried this wine tonight and am really enjoyed the first few sips. It reminds me a lot of a Zinfandel and would go great with a chocolate tasting. The wine seemed not as great the more I drank it and seemd to flatten out. Cryptic California Red Wine 2010. Cryptic refers to the mysterious alchemy that comes from combining individual lots of wine together to create a magical blend. I believe it would be greatly paired with a chocolate tasting, but not strong enought for dinner.
The 3 C's on their encryption wheel each represent one of three varietal components: Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each grape varietal adds a unique characteristic to the blend. The zinfandel component is brimming with brambly, intense red berry flavors. Inky, intense Petite Sirah provides depth and color and concentration, while elegantly structured, silky Cabernet Sauvignon adds polish and complexity. Zinfandel can have a bold, slightly spicy flavor profile, but occasionally it can get too jammy. Visit their website at www.crypticwine.com.
